The vision of South Pasadena based architect and artist Peter Tolkin and former colleague Leigh Jerrard, the interactive sculptural installation will be open to the public at Day One weekdays 12-6pm and Saturdays 11am-3pm. 30 feet in diameter and 15 feet tall, the whimsical work is composed of 90 inflated dunnage bags donated by Stopak and Sunrise Manufacturing. Like its dynamic predecessor Dunnage Ball, which drew crowds at the 2008 Glow festival in Santa Monica, Torus inspires adults and children alike.
According to Day One Executive Director Christy Zamani, Torus exemplifies Day One's passion to encourage fun, promote physical activity, and create vibrant places. Torus accomplishes all this by bringing the arts to a non-conventional space and encouraging play.
