Day One staff members, along with public health advocates from across California attended the annual Information & Education Days on May 7th, which is hosted by the American Lung Association.
The purpose of the event is to provide Assembly and State legislators at their Sacramento offices district updates and information regarding secondhand smoke and tobacco control efforts in the communities they represent.
- Smoke-free multi-unit housing
- Tobacco retail licensing
- Smoke-free outdoor dining
- Smoke-free parks
Day One, along with other public health advocates had the opportunity to meet with staff from Senator Carol Liu's office and Assemblymember Chris Holden's office, as Pasadena falls within the district that each legislator represents. Staff provided updates regarding tobacco prevention in Pasadena as well as smoke-free multi-unit housing efforts in the City of Sierra Madre, which is represented by Assemblymember Chris Holden.
I & E days is a great event that Day One has participated in for many years and staff looks forward to continue sharing tobacco control efforts with local legislators!
