The Director of the Pasadena Public Health Department, Eric Walsh, was present in the morning introduction and gave an amazing speech empowering youth to make a difference and notified them that being a youth does not mean you do not have a voice in your community.
The day was full of excitement and resources for the participants. One of the things that definitely caught the interest of the youth were the vendors that were present at the resource fair. A special thanks goes out to for their participation and support:
After all the fun and excitement of the raffle, the Mayor and several other council members arrived, introduced themselves and spoke about their interest in Youth and their future. Earlier in the day, the participants were asked to choose a workshop from: teen voice, teen jobs, or transportation. In these workshops the participants voiced their opinions and their experiences that they would later share with the Mayor and Councilmembers. Some of the problems identified in the transportation workshop was:
- Lack of shade and benches at City bus stops
- Inconsistent bus schedule
- High rate/cost of transit passes
- 6 mile requirement to qualify for a reduced bus pass
We greatly appreciate All Saints Church for allowing Day One to host their 18th annual Youth Summit at their facility.
